Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your Bayit account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains exactly how, what gets deleted, and what (if anything) is retained — in accordance with Apple's App Store policy and applicable law.

How to delete your account

From inside the Bayit iOS app

1. Open Bayit on your iPhone.
2. Tap the profile icon in the top-right of the Home tab to open Settings.
3. Scroll to the bottom of Settings.
4. Tap Delete Account.
5. Confirm the action when prompted. You'll be asked once more — this step is intentional, because deletion is permanent.

After confirmation, your account is immediately marked for deletion and you are signed out. The deletion is irreversible.

By email (if you can't access the app)

If you've already uninstalled Bayit or can no longer access your account, email privacy@bayitapp.com from the email address associated with your Apple ID with the subject line "Delete my Bayit account." We will verify your identity (we may ask for the email or Apple-private identifier of your account) and process the request within 30 days.

What gets deleted

When you delete your account, the following personal data is permanently removed from our active systems:

• Your profile (name, onboarding answers, preferences).
• Your entire chat history with Bayit.
• All extracted memory entries the assistant has saved about you.
• Your streak history, daily plan completions, and journey progress.
• Your reading position, highlights, and notes.
• Your saved Read-tab preferences.
• Any avatar or profile photo you uploaded (this is local-only on the device, but it's also wiped on sign-out).

What's retained (and why)

We retain a minimal set of records only when required by law, accounting, or fraud-prevention obligations:

• Encrypted backups (up to 30 additional days) — our backups roll over on a 30-day cycle. Your data will be purged from backups within 30 days of account deletion.
• Subscription / purchase records — if you ever purchased a subscription, basic transaction metadata (no payment-card data) is retained for the period required by tax and consumer-protection law (typically 6–7 years). This data is stored separately and is not associated with your active profile.
• Anonymized analytics — anonymous event records (screen views, feature interactions) that cannot be traced back to you are retained for product-improvement purposes.

What deletion does NOT do

It does not cancel your App Store subscription

If you have an active Bayit Premium subscription, you must cancel it separately to stop future charges:

1. Open the iOS Settings app.
2. Tap your name at the top.
3. Tap Subscriptions.
4. Find Bayit in the list and tap it.
5. Tap Cancel Subscription.

Cancelling here stops auto-renewal. You'll retain access to paid features until the end of the current billing period. Deleting your Bayit account does not refund or cancel an active subscription with Apple.

It does not delete data you've shared elsewhere

Anything you've shared from Bayit to another service (e.g., a parsha card shared to Instagram, a screenshot sent over WhatsApp) lives on those services and is governed by their policies. To remove it, contact that service.
